The Optimist is the most popular beginner sailing boat for children worldwide. It is the perfect dinghy for learning how to sail independently in a safe and fun way. During this Optimist sailing course, children sail in small groups of up to six participants on the Uitgeestermeer, guided by certified instructors.
Whether your child is a complete beginner or already has sailing experience, each course is adapted to skill level and age. Returning sailors continue to develop their skills while improving boat control, confidence and teamwork. Curious what to bring? Check our packing list.
Holiday courses run from Monday to Friday (unless stated otherwise), from 09:30 to 17:00. Saturday courses consist of five consecutive Saturdays from 10:00 to 16:00.
Safety always comes first. All children wear life jackets (provided by us) and water shoes are mandatory. Our instructors follow strict safety protocols and additional supervisors are always present on and around the water.

Sailing School Uitgeest is part of Sailing School & Boat Rental Het Uitgeestermeer and applies the HISWA terms and conditions. Besides sailing lessons, you can also come to us for staff outings, Caribbean Bar party venue, meeting room, youth sailing lessons, adult sailing lessons and surf lessons.
